Custom bathroom vanities in Fresno most often replace something that was never the right size to begin with. The city's older housing, particularly the bungalows in the Tower District and around Old Fig Garden, was frequently built with a single bathroom and a pedestal sink, and the vanity that eventually went in there was whatever stock width came closest to fitting.

Fresno bathrooms by housing era
In the pre-war neighborhoods, bathrooms are small and the walls are rarely the width of a manufactured vanity. A 30 inch stock unit in a 34 inch alcove leaves a gap that gets filled with a scribe strip and a bead of caulk, and that caulk line discolors within a couple of years. Building to the alcove recovers those four inches, which in a bathroom that size is the difference between a single door bay and a proper drawer stack. These homes also frequently have no linen storage at all, so a tall unit built into the same run usually does more for the household than the vanity itself.
The 1950s through 1970s tracts on the southeast side, including Sunnyside, present a different job. Those bathrooms usually have a cultured marble integral top on a builder vanity, both of which are now well past their service life, and the vanity height is typically 30 to 32 inches, which is uncomfortably low for most adults today. North of Herndon the houses are newer and the master baths are larger, so the work there is usually a double vanity replacement where the original builder cabinetry has simply worn out rather than been badly sized.
How we build Fresno bathroom vanities
Every vanity is built to the measured alcove rather than to a stock width, and we locate the supply and drain lines during the measure so drawer boxes can be notched around them instead of surrendering the space. Finish goes on all six sides of every door including the top and bottom edges, the toe kick is sealed, and we specify catalyzed or conversion finishes rather than latex enamel because Fresno groundwater leaves mineral deposits that etch softer coatings.
Why Fresno homeowners choose us
- Built to your wall, not to a 30 or 36 inch standard
- Sealed on all six sides, including the edges nobody sees
- Finishes chosen for Central Valley hard water
